I haven't bought headphones in a while. I have drifted to over ears, but found these on sale, which essentially priced them on par with USD. They are a great sounding set. Burn in has helped bass and treble, as bass was dead, and treble sounded muffled or held back. They are very nicely balanced, leaving not a lively fun sound, but accurate and calming, something that, I feel, allows you to fall into the music and relax. The bass is ample, not booming, but still puts out when needed. Mids are excellent. Highs are nearly perfect. There is a lack of highs sparkle at times, but you also rarely experience the piercing sound that v shaped signatures deliver. The result is equality throughout the range, and I like it. They also play well without amping, and for the first time I find myself not toting around my Fiio E12. The amp does change the sound on the Orions, for the better actually, but not enough to warrant using it. My only issue is sensitivity to the source, or the music the source is playing rather. FLAC definitely sounds cleaner, and FLAC or MP3 with bad sound will distort and even sound shrill on the earphones. If you purchase these phones and find the sound horrible, do not blame them, but either the song files, source, or improper fitment/ wrong tips. Overall, they are simply amazing. Looking forward to other Campfire products down the road.
