The FiiO R9 has two ES9038PRO DACs, one for the left and one for the right channel. Each DAC chip contains 8 independent D/A converters, and these 8 channels are connected in parallel to provide a fully differentiated output. The result is a precise, clear and full sound.

Next generation THX AAA 788+ headphone amplifier
Inside the FiiO R9 is an 8-channel THX AAA 788+ headphone amplifier design. These headphone amplifiers, powered by a high-voltage power supply, are paralleled in 2×2 groups to create a fully balanced four-way design that significantly improves transient performance. The comb-shaped heat sinks and optimized circuit layout efficiently dissipate heat and ensure that the R9 can deliver continuous and stable high output power. The result is that the R9 is capable of delivering 7300mW per channel at 32Ω.
Fully networked hi-fi audio architecture - Five stages of amplification
FiiO R9 delivers impressive audio performance thanks to its five-stage audio architecture with carefully designed IV, LPF, gain, preamplification and current expansion stages. The variable gain and variable supply voltage result in 5 gain levels, allowing you to precisely set the desired volume. Whether you're using IEMs or hard to drive headphones, you'll have a great listening experience.
Carefully designed mainboard - every cm considered
The FiiO R9's internal power supply, digital parts, DAC and headphone amplifier are all located on separate circuit boards. In addition, there are metal shields to completely isolate the DAC and THX headphone amplifier sections. These four main components of the audio circuitry are housed on independent boards to avoid crosstalk, ensuring that the processed audio signals and their output are accurate, clean and maintain their dynamics.
Fine-tuned power supply circuit - Dual DC/AC power supplies
FiiO R9 features a new, low-noise, high-efficiency and long-life industrial-grade 40W power supply that supports an extremely wide input voltage range (85~305VAC) and is designed to last 500,000 hours. The FiiO R9 can also be powered by an external DC power supply, allowing you to pair the R9 with a powerful linear power supply. When the R9 is connected to an external power supply, you can also activate the "Ground Lift" function to reduce crosstalk and achieve a cleaner sound.
*External DC power supplies with 15V-3A are supported.
Finely structured analogue section
The analogue part of the audio circuit has a finely divided, multi-stage power supply, including digital-to-analogue conversion, LPF, preamp processing, gain drive and other power supply stages. Each power supply stage uses many precision LDOs to stabilize the secondary voltage, ensuring a clean and stable power supply.
Industry-leading components - ELNA electrolytic capacitors
For an improved sound image and better overall sound quality, uses 12 low-loss metallized film capacitors for a wide operating temperature range + 70 high-precision, low-noise film resistors.
Low temperature drift and low noise, regardless of temperature fluctuations, ensure stable, high-quality sound. 5 sets of silver-plated, oxygen-free copper cables for connection, Silver-plated, oxygen-free copper wires are used to connect the various circuit boards to ensure low-loss, high-quality signal transmission.
Large 6-inch HD screen - an experience in new "heights"
FiiO R9 has a large 6-inch screen with 2160*1080 pixels in portrait format, which in combination with the open Android operating system offers a thoroughly intuitive experience. Fiio R9 allows the user to freely install and use third-party music streaming and other apps.
